PSIRA (Private Security Independent Regulatory Authority)

Background

The primary mandate of PSIRA is to regulate the private security industry in South Africa. They have 9 branches spread throughout the country. They manage +1.9 million Service personnel (SOs) and about +9000 Security Companies (SPs). nTier has customised Compiere ERP for their requirements and the solution has been running for +9 years. There is currently a proposal to migrate the Authority to iDempiere ERP and it is currently being evaluated. This is probably the biggest Compiere/Adempiere/iDempiere implementation in Africa with over 5000 registered users.

Functionality Deployed

The ERP manages most aspects of their Finances and Operations.

Registration, Suspension and De-Registration - of security companies and employees.

Biometrics - fingerprint readers and cameras. Fingerprints are captured and sent off to the HANIS residing at the Department of Home Affairs (DHA) for real-time identity authentication. There is also the management and capture of manual fingerprints for criminal checks against the South African Police database. Identity cards are printed for all registered security personnel.

Banking - caters for bank reconcilation, cash handling and payment allocations.

Billing - There are monthly and annual billing runs. Statements are sent via the Post Office, emailed or securely downloaded via the Internet.

General Ledger - All transactions facilitated on the system have accounting implications. This is the source for all revenue accounting detail. Periodically, summary GL totals are sent off to their Pastel reporting solution.

Training Management - All training companies and certifications earned are managed for authenticity and record keeping.

Web Access - Security personnel can be verified online for registration and qualifications. Security companies can register/de-register employees and check their account statements.

Paper/Mail communication tracking - this is facilitated via the request functionality within the ERP solution.
