Biometric Fingerprint Readers rolled out at PSIRA

In a bid to curb identity theft at the Private Security Industry Regulatory Authority (PSIRA), nTier have rolled out fingerprint readers at PSIRA branches.

Fingerprints are read and transmitted to the Department of Home Affairs (DHA) for verification against an ID number, in real-time. Various functionality at PSIRA, like new registrations and certificates prints now depend on the successful verfication by the Home Affairs National Identity System (HANIS) solution. This reduces application and identity fraud. Since PSIRA certficates expire, this now proves as a mechanism to verify the identity of previously registered security personnel.
